-===== The Grecydan Empire, the First Unification of Grecyda =====+===== The Grecydan Empire, the First Unifying State of Grecyda =====
 +The Grecydan Empire, which is largely regarded as the first advanced civilization on Ethrekas, excluding the elven countries, united all of Grecyda under its rule, the men of Grecyda proving to be valuable assets to going into unknown territory for the purpose of conquering them. The Grecydan Empire is known to possess great militaristic prowess as they became the strongest force of Grecyda through this method, the people of Grecyda having bowed to them on the grounds of their righteous rule.
 +==== History ====
 +It was first established by Emperor Aamir in the southern region of Ethrekas, but upon its inception, it was not called the Grecydan Empire. Previously, it had operated under the name of Astonal, in its very beginning consisting of just Minalda. City by city, Emperor Aamir came under possession of all of Grecyda, renaming his country to the Grecydan Empire only after the unification of the lands of Grecyda. It was through various methods that he acquired these new cities, one being through his strong military force and another being through pure diplomacy. The threat of the elves in the east was also a factor of their unification, all of Grecyda seeing the strength of their potential unification as a reasonable thing to assume would happen.\\
 +\\
 +Over the centuries of the rule by Emperor Aamir and his descendants, Grecyda effectively became united and became a civilization of peace and prosperity, most recognizing and thanking the monarch for these gifts while some outliers considered the revolutionizing nature of the imperialistic empire to be founded on slavery and subjugation. These people, while being constituted of a minority of the empire, believed this on the grounds that the empire forced them to bow before the nobles who had been chosen by the empire, relegating the cause of its existence to imperialism and, subsequently, nepotism, as its nobles were satisfied with their positions of government and power. Because of this, there were many cases of uprisings within the empire, resulting in struggles of power where, by the conclusion, the government would become reformed and changed to match the citizens’ desires, new sets of people rising in to power to claim their status as a noble. These uprisings were often considered, on the full scale of the nation, to be small and almost inconsequential as the emperor would appease them by appointing them to positions of power.\\
 +\\
 +After many centuries of warring with the elven countries, these elves only providing defense against their attacks and no real retaliation through invasion of their lands, the emperor was mysteriously assassinated with no direct heir to the throne, leaving Grecyda in a state of turmoil. Some say the emperor was assassinated by the Vaathara in an orchestrated plot to divide Grecyda once more into different countries, as the empire could have possibly become too powerful and could eventually overthrow the elves.
 +==== Religion ====
 +The people of the Grecydan Empire worship a pantheon of gods that consist of deities they deem to be of importance to each individual person, however there is a national religion that is required of each citizen, one of their gods being Aldrath, who gave mortals the gift of fire, and another of these deities being Alarayna and Clastian, however worship of Alarayna, the goddess of fertility and love, is largely regarded as a feminine role that is expected of women, while worship of Clastian, the god of war and strength, is regarded as a masculine role expected of men.\\
 +\\
 +Other deities of importance to the empire are Namitha, the goddess of wisdom and morality, Lexith, the god of lawfulness and might, Echna, the goddess of music and dance, Aldrath, the god of fire, and Astoneal, the god of trade and property. These deities are considered to be the true gods that are worshipped in many of the chapels and churches of their country, granting them offerings of penance and acceptance. The sanctity of this religion is protected by law, allowing for its citizens a proper piousness as they live in accordance to them.\\
 +\\
 +Other religions are also known to exist in the Grecydan Empire, however these religions are either illegal and so are persecuted or they don’t have as many believers as the national religion. The reason for the existence of these illicit religions is said to be because of the other gods tempting them to worship them, as part of the test of mortality.\\
 +\\
 +The texts considered holy by their religion are known to exist and be protected under the law of the country, these texts containing the knowledge needed to pass on into the next life and live a life of sainthood and godliness. Reproduction of the copies of these texts is a power reserved for only the priests and saints, who read these texts to their people in the chapels that are so common in the major cities.
 +==== Culture ====
 +To the citizens of the Grecydan Empire, their culture often goes hand in hand with their religion, the beliefs imparted to them by their gods being so significant to them and their ways of life. The men, for example, have adopted the nature of Clastian, the god of war and strength, while the women have adopted the nature of Alarayna, being monogamous lovers and dutiful wives. Other deities that carry a certain gender within themselves are Namitha and Lexith, representing both the masculine and feminine roles of lawfulness and morality. This particular reverence for these deities has caused them to have roles expected from each gender, these roles dependent on these gods.
 +Alarayna, who is the concubine of Clastian, second only to his other divine lovers whom he has no marriage or bondage with, is seen as being the feminine ideal, much like Clastian is the masculine ideal. In contrast, Namitha, who is the wife and mate of Lexith, teaches women of the rules of proper morality and the peace of a nurtured home, while Lexith teaches men of their expectation to establish the law and order of the country, granting a certain respect to nobles and royalty. It is these roles that the men and women of these cultures attempt to fill, as the epitome of their potentially divine natures.\\
 +\\
 +The citizens of this empire are meant to believe in the sin and price of sexual impurity by the hands of lustful and desiring women, punishing women who betray their husbands and the sanctity of their marriage to them. The punishment, in these circumstances, often involves the stripping of the woman’s rights as their sexual infidelity is considered a high crime, imprisoning and then disallowing her from teaching and raising her daughters, as they are fearful that she might influence them to become similar to her. Men, on the other hand, are known to marry multiple wives, with each wife being expected to be faithful and dutiful to her husband and consort.
