The Neiara are an ancient, forgotten race of elves that were neither exceptional in their pursuits of science nor spirituality in contrast to both of their successors, instead calling upon the wisdom of philosophy and the rejection of the then new and developing caste system now deeply celebrated and enforced by the Arethara, the elven people of Arethayn, in favor of an anarchistic existence where no masters or lords of the people ruled.
In ages past, the elven people who would become the Neiara fled Arethayn, the homeland of the elves, to begin a new era of peace and prosperity in a society where elves lived freely and not bound to any caste system, the reason for their departure being the persecution of those who refused to bow before the purest of the Arethara who would become the eternal and undying rulers of Arethayn. This refusal would result in the Cephareth’s abandonment of their people as stated by these new rulers as they were led into an era of conflict with the ancestors of the Arethara, forcing them out of Arethayn and into the land of the west, which they called Driayn.
Unlike the evolved Arethari people, the Neiara aimed to live in a society where none reigned supreme to the others of their culture, believing that all elves were of significance and importance as they belonged to a class of elves that were thought by the Arethara to be inferior, being descendants of the lesser of the ancestor gods of the Cephareth. This society was constructed from and bore some resemblance to the society possessed by the Arethara of ages past, before the Neiara fled for the safety of the other lands, these elves having been pushed out of that ancient society by the rising, new rulers, those who would form the top of the caste system of Arethayn.
Their interactions with the mortals of the new land were few, being as the elves kept to themselves and had no desire to rule over the mortals. Despite this, they were often known to carry some contempt for humankind as these humans could not compare with the elves in a vast number of ways, one of many being their knowledge of magic or the intelligence associated with the practice of this magic.
The gods they worshipped were extremely broad and varied across the many spirits of existence, being as they were not a unified people and that they only shared a common distaste for the caste system of the elven homeland. Because of this, they were known to have a collective disregard for the ruling Aurya who were known to have abandoned them in their plight against the concept of purity which arose in Arethayn, the most powerful of the Cephareth having chosen the Arethara to continue their legacy, though they did not outright detest them as these of the Aurya were considered the brothers and sisters of their ancestors, though less powerful these ancestors were.
The arts of magic that they practiced were known to be very diverse, which allowed for their two racial progeny to develop their own magics independently of all sources of the past, granting them free reign over their future and no limitation set upon them by any others of the elven race as they were more able and apt to discover the intricacies of magic and the ways of the world as dictated by the external forces. This was in contrast to the Arethara who held the values of the Aurya very closely and would not stray from their guidance, this guidance often manifesting in their disability to call upon the teachings of other spirits, instead preferring to manipulate the souls of the Aurya themselves to bend the world to match their desires.
The race which constituted the vast majority of those elves which did not pledge themselves before the ascendant rulers and developing caste system of Arethayn were known to still possess the golden features which were most reminiscent of the light, carrying within themselves the divine light. This was a result of their shared ancestry with those elves of Arethayn, widely known among the elven peoples as the Arethara, despite having been the first to diverge from their perceived greatness and virtue. One of the causes of their divergence from the Arethara is that they possessed a paler shade of gold within their skin than the elder ones of the Arethara, because of their descent from lesser spirits which did not retain as great of the quantities of the golden light within themselves.
Another feature which they share with the Arethara is their longevity, being able to survive and flourish to the age of many, many years, though this is mostly unknown by the mannish races of Ethrekas which inhabit the jungles of Tradarda beside them. This isolation is a result of their private, concealing natures, preferring to instead mingle within themselves rather than associate with the races of man which live alongside their greatness, though being recognized through their sharply pointed ears.
