Peoples of Aurius

The Elven Peoples

The elven people of Aurius found themselves scattered about the world because of the emergence of the Elefyr, those same who the Arethara would strive to emulate and worship. Notably, this allowed for the existence of the Neiara, who inhabited the land of which they called Driayn, who rejected the worship of the Elefyr and the caste system such that they were deemed forsaken by the Cephareth, the ancestor spirits. From this race which possessed no clear, defining characteristic came the Vaathara and the Mirara, who themselves had their own schism in regards to worship and religion. Some of the most powerful of the Cephareth who sacrificed themselves, those being Terravis, Aecora, and Aryiel, would found a worship of themselves among their chosen people that soon instigated their departure from Arethayn to the mortal worlds that existed from without the elven homeland. These chosen people were the Silvara, the wild elves who inhabited the jungles and worshipped Terravis; the Undara, the oceanic elves who inhabited within the ocean and worshipped Aecora; and the Ayenara, the elves of the sky who inhabited within air and worshipped Aryiel.

The Mannish Peoples

The mannish peoples of Aurius are found throughout Aurius, though they do not all claim descent from the same group. It is thought by most that the modern humans were created or bestowed with soul by the gods after some calamity, and thus, tend to look to beings higher than they to achieve meaning in life. However, the prehistoric humans of both Caskaris and Ethrekas were notably each divided into two groups, with the former being the Ayanics and the Neraics and the latter being the Makhetia and the Ethetia.

Of the descendants of Ethrekas, the Makhetia were subject to the wrath of Solara such that their structures and governance were laid waste to by the flame, and the Ethetia instead being gifted with soul by Solara herself as they were believed to be congenial to her. Thus, the Ethetia's blood survived and became split across the land of Ethrekas into various tribes. The modern Kataletia, who are identified as such because of their status as having belonged to the Grecydan Empire and thus, allowing for a homogeneous identity, are one such, and they are typically contrasted with the Eretia, who inhabit within the fertile lands of Tradarda as they were once enslaved by the elven peoples of the Vaathara. This classification is considered by some to be too broad, however, and that many peoples and phenotypes exist in the Kataletia than would be thought. Kataletian scholars hold that there were six main tribes that descended into the modern Kataletia, each with their own physical traits and mannerisms. These are the Teletia, the Najetia, the Fajraetia, the Aldetia, the Minetia, and the Vespetia.

Of the descendants of Caskaris, there were previously the Ayanics and the Neraics, who now have become two distinct peoples that contrast by way of appearance and cultural belief. These two groups are the Iluayans and the Varayans, who were born from the interbreeding of the earlier peoples. The Varayans, who are thought to have migrated past the mountains of Aryela into the northern lands of snow, worship primarily Corala as a goddess of balance and karma, and it is she who mediates the flow of the mortal world. The Iluayans, on the other hand, belong to many subtypes, with the druidic peoples having belonged to the faith of the Neraics and who found their bloodline dispersing into the eastern Ayanics. From these druids came the tribal Aetherics and the occultists of the east, who worship the Deonyths as gods.
