The continent known as Caskaris, which is situated to the northwest of the central world of Arethayn, found itself and its inhabitants to be in a state of constant flux as owed to the curse of darkness such that time would flow cyclically between extremes in an eternal change. From this phenomenon of phase and transition was born the reverence of the inhabitants of Caskaris for a dualism, a natural inclination that the world was composed and given rise to by two essential and primordial beings rather than being shaped by merely one. Thus was born the broader Iluayanic and Varayanic perspective of duality and a juxtaposition between opposites, a natural inclination to acknowledge the faculties of a being as being limited and constrained by the ability and potential of the other. Then, it was understood that neither essential force and inclination was truly good nor evil, and instead, they each comprised only the capacity for which the other could not possess. Thus, they were understood as two parts of a whole and fully realized capability, and though they were not united into a quintessential singularity, they were thought to have been in the primordial age. Though the primordial powers of duality are recognized as disparate in function and ability, Caskaris is thought to have been born from the intersection between the two, and thus, Caskaris possesses both aspects of the light and the the dark, being some penultimate landmass shaped by the interplay between the two diametric entities.

Ayosic Forest

The Iluayans most plentifully and abundantly reside in the changing and twisting forests of eastern Caskaris, a boundary that happens to exist to the south of the Aryelic Mountains, and these mountains belonging to a range which the city of Aryela was notably built into through a feat of engineering. In this region of southeastern Caskaris, there exists a plentitude of flora and fauna, and many alchemical ingredients may be procured from foraging through the forests. Though the forest is densely overgrown in a thicket of plant matter, many of the kingdom of Ayoskova have attempted to lay down paths and roads so that the people might better navigate through the forest in travel from one Ayoskovic city to the next. In the forest, there exists a wildness that is distasteful to the Ayoskovic royal family, and so, while they do not journey to the southern coast of Caskaris, they have employed scouts in order to develop a report on the peoples who belong to that region. Notably, some of these people identify under the cult of Aethericism, and it is the religious customs and practices that this group professes which the Ayoskovic kingdom has outlawed. The southern coasts, then, while belonging to this broader region of the Ayosic Forest, have often their own inhabitants, peoples, and according regional characteristics, a circumstance only made possible through the density of this forest.

Caskaris is primarily and most prolifically inhabited by the Iluayanic peoples, though to the north of the Aryelic Mountains, there is found another kind of phenotype that is thought to be characteristic of the people identified by the exonym of the Varayans. The Iluayans are best described as the people and subjects of Ayoskova, though the term is thought to apply to other peoples who share similar phenotypal characteristics and thus, possess a congeniality with them. The Varayans, however, are distinguished through their dark hair and eyes, in addition to their possession of a pale gold within their skin such that it appears to be imbued with the color of yellow. Accordingly, when a Varayan journeys to the central region of Caskaris of where the Iluayans inhabit, there can be found a potential for discrimination as an outsider. Thus, the Varayans rarely journey through the Aryelic Mountains to the Ayosic Forest, and thus retain a largely different culture from the Iluayans by way of their isolation, done both deliberately and by circumstance.

Previously in the history of Caskaris, there were two groups of proto-humans that found themselves distinguished by way of not only custom, culture, and religion, but also location. In the west of Caskaris, in what is now Moragatha, there was found a radiant and shining garden that found its light inherited from immediately without it, blessing the land with a boundlessness and vitality. The inhabitants of this consecrated garden which was comprised of terraces and structures of the stone of a purest white are identified by their descendants as the Neraics, and they lived under powerful beings of light and order which they called the Daevas. From these godlike beings were born the light and soul of the primordial place, and they accordingly had found a worship of themselves among their subjects of the Neraics that instigated the rise of a certain kind of purity and expiation to be lived in accordance to.
